Books and Projects

One day in the future this page will have much more than a few words on it. Perhaps some sweet descriptions and ever sweet cover art, but for now, I shall just tell a little about my current projects.

A Pocket Full of Roses
This is my baby. YA historical thriller, set on the streets of 1901 London. Thieves, lesbians, gangs, and psychopaths. Twists and secrets and frights. Family, love, and hope. And death, of course, because that's what happens when you mix all those ingredients together.

ROSES was inspired somewhat by Episode #2 of Ripper Street and a brief, like, fifteen minutes of the mini-series, Neverland. A bit random, those are, but hey, they sparked my most favorite project yet. I have never loved characters this much, or a story this much.

This was also my first experience working with dialect. With the help of my bestie and many many many Youtube videos, I studied the hell out of the Cockney accent. Wasn't sure if I wanted to do it, but it fit with the characters way too well for me. It was a must.

I'm totally in love with this book. So much that I wrote a prequel earlier this year.

A Ring Around the Lucky
See what I did there? Did you see?

I never thought I'd write a prequel, but that's how much I love this story. This one started out as a small project to help edit ROSES, as it follows two pivotal characters and their shared background, but it quickly turned into a a giant story where everything got all crazy and intense and...you know how it goes. LUCKY takes place mostly in Ireland, spanning the 1870s-1890s, and I'm getting ready to tackle Editing Stage #1.

What's planned next?
Well, I've got another YA historical in the early stage. A creepy ghost story with a psychological twist. Haven't completely figured out the psychological twist part. Or the ghost part. Ideas work in mysterious ways.

Also YA contemporary set in the 60s, a small town romance, and a sort of alternate world dystopian. Ooooo.
